Job Description

The successful candidate would be expected to be a part of the Retail Technology Performance testing team. The manager will be responsible for leading the functional and system integration testing on the projects/release. The test manager’s key responsibilities would include defining appropriate test strategies and approaches for the project deliverables, developing a firm understanding of the systems and high level requirements, formulating test estimations and plans, and reporting progress. The test manager would require understanding various aspects automation, and being able to guide and help his team in achieving the desired level of automation in the projects. The test manager would be expected to interact with a wide variety of stakeholders, including programme managers, development managers, architects, delivery leads, business analysts, test managers and functional automation leads, so clear communication skills are very important. Experience and understanding of agile delivery methodology, would be an added advantage for this role.

Key Accountabilities

 

ð      Responsible for understanding the Retail technology stack, delivery approach, and strategic initiatives, in order to define appropriate test strategies and approaches.

ð      Define and implement QA vision for the Retail Technology testing function

ð      Deliver projects in the testing space and ensure delivery efficiency

ð      Define metrics, practices, processes, reports and tools to ensure delivery is managed

ð      Competency management for testing practice

ð      Knowledge and stakeholder management

ð      Implement steps to improve test automation levels

ð      Define best practices and improvement ideas to drive efficiency and continuous improvement.

ð      Ensure testing standards, process, procedure and methodology are adhered to.

ð      Maintain a detail functional understanding of the key business systems and future developments.

Required Skills and Experience

 12+yrs of overall Testing exp of which min 8yrs must be in Performance Testing
 

B.E./B.Tech. or M.C.A. from a reputed University

12 + years of hands on experience in testing (performance), including experience of manual/automation testing and exposure to testing & analysing application performance

Experience handling large testing teams in both Shared Service model as well as in Productised teams

Proven record of achievements in testing teams

Knowledge of monitoring, profiling and tuning tools eg CA Wily, HP Diagnostics, I3, HP Openview, J-probe, Optimize-IT, SQL Power Tools, TOAD

Able to accurately analyse performance test results and present results and analysis in both technical and business language

Good knowledge of Websphere and its performance counters

Good Knowledge in J2EE technology

Strong knowledge and working experience of Capital Markets and Fund management.

Knowledge of Agile software development life-cycle methodologies

Exposure to testing tools such as, ALM, Quality Center, Selenium, QTP, Load Runner, Jira etc.

Experience of working with multi-cultural and geographically disparate teams

 

 

Desirable skills

 

ISEB/ISTQB certification or equivalent

Exposure to testing mobile applications / apps

Experience in Performance tuning will be desirable

Exposure to a varied environments and products like:

  • J2EE technologies and the WebSphere family of products
  • C++/.NET and the Microsoft environment
  • Web Services, SOAP, XML messaging etc.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Proven experience of liaison with stakeholders in international locations

Excellent documentation skills

Initiative in keeping abreast of changing industry practices, testing framework and methodologies, test tools

Self-motivation is essential, should demonstrate commitment to high quality design and development and passion for testing

Ability to develop & maintain working relationships with a number of stakeholders and senior professionals

Flexibility and an open attitude towards change

Problem solving  skills with the ability to think laterally, and to think with a medium to long term perspective

Ability to learn and quickly get familiar with a complex business and systems environment

Willingness to travel overseas at a short-notice

Willingness to work in different time-zones as required
